Crucero/Crossroads bounces playfully between two personalities (both Guillermo Verdecchia) grappling with Latin American culture in a North American context. An Argentina-born actor living in Toronto reflects on his sense of displacement through gently humorous voice-overs, while over-the-top Latino stereotype Wideload bombards viewers with his broadly hilarious lessons on the “Saxons” around him. Verdecchia won the Governor-General’s Award in 1993 for his play and Ramiro cleverly translates his script into a flippant, highly perceptive double portrait.
