Paul, a bored teenager adrift amidst the pressures and contradictions of modern life, finds himself torn between love, frustration, and money. His turbulent relationship with Natalie—a young woman with firm convictions against sexism and other social injustices—forces him to question the attitudes and prejudices that shape his worldview. Conceived as a fairy tale about consumer society, "Hate to Love" blends youthful disillusionment, romantic conflict, and social commentary into an experimental portrait of urban life in the early 1980s.
